Job description

The University of Virginia's School of Education and Human Development seeks qualified applicants for the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education to teach and provide content expertise for programs in curriculum and instruction. Opportunities may be on grounds in Charlottesville, Virginia and/or online during the Summer 2026, Fall 2026, and Spring 2027 semesters.

Graduate-level course instructors require a terminal degree (PhD; EdD) in Education specializing in curriculum and instruction or a related field.

Undergraduate course instructors require a master’s degree or terminal degree specializing in curriculum and instruction or a related field.

Applicants must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence. Previous PreK‑12 and post‑secondary teaching experience in the course content area is strongly preferred. Your cover letter must detail your specific content area expertise and teaching experience. Additionally, please note your availability to teach in‑person, online, and/or hybrid modalities.

These at‑will positions for teaching a single course do not carry benefits. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment and requires an education verification. The department will not sponsor visas for this position.

Applications for this faculty wage position will be considered on an ongoing basis as instructional needs arise. Instructional openings for the summer and fall semesters are typically filled in April, and instructional needs for the spring are typically filled in November.

To apply, please submit an application online at https://jobs.virginia.edu and attach a current cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, and contact information for three references. Search on requisition number: R0080645.

Internal applicants may search and apply for jobs on the UVA Internal Careers website.

Questions related to the application process may be directed to Keith Johnson, HR Specialist at fkj2t@virginia.edu.

The University of Virginia is an equal opportunity employer. All interested persons are encouraged to apply, including veterans and individuals with disabilities. Learn more about UVA's commitment to non‑discrimination and equal opportunity employment.
