Job summary

Memorial Health System - Ohio in Marietta, OH seeks a Registered Nurse to support the Surgery Department. You will follow assignments from the charge nurse, prepare the surgical suite, gather supplies, and maintain a safe, clean environment.

The role requires current Ohio RN licensure, BLS on hire, ACLS within one year, and compliance with RQI. You will collaborate with care teams, document accurately, and participate in unit meetings.

Qualifications

• Current licensure in the State of Ohio as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS required upon hire.
• ACLS within one year of employment.
• Maintains compliance in RQI required.

Responsibilities

• Following and completing assignments as given by the charge nurse.
• Creating a warm, personal, and calm environment throughout the department.
• Gathering supplies and equipment for surgical cases.
• Preparing surgery suite for procedures.
• Restocking supplies in the surgery suite after procedures.
• Monitoring surgery inventory and notifying when supplies are needed.
• Operates equipment and applies technical skills per policy; seeks help when needed.
• Synthesizes patient data and implements appropriate action plans.
• Documentation is complete, clear, and policy-compliant.
• Collaborates with disciplines to develop coordinated outcomes and patient progress.
• Attends competencies, mandatory programs, and unit meetings.

Job Functions

• Following and completing assignments as given by the charge nurse.
• Creating and maintaining an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the department.
• Gathering supplies and equipment for surgical cases.
• Preparing surgery suite for surgical procedures.
• Restocking supplies in surgery suite when procedures have ended for the day.
• Monitoring of surgery inventory and notifying appropriate individual(s) when supplies are needed.
• Operates equipment and performs technical skills according to policies and standards; learns new skills and seeks assistance appropriately.
• Synthesizes patient data and implements action plan appropriate to situation (good judgment, critical thinking).
• Documentation is complete, clear, concise, and according to policy.
• Collaborates with appropriate disciplines in developing coordinated outcomes and interventions; interacts with team members regarding patient progress.
• Assumes accountability and responsibility for attendance and timely completion of competencies, mandatory programs, unit specific requirement (i.e. ACLS), and unit meetings.
• Ensure that the Surgery Department and Operating Rooms are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
• Record all information correctly and accurately on patient's chart.
• Follow established universal precautions in the use of gloves, gowns, and/or masks.
• Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
