The Music Library is seeking a Federal Work Study Student for Fall 2025 to join the Circulation Desk team. The Circulation Desk staff play a vital role in creating a positive first impression for library users. This position involves handling various tasks related to Circulation services at designated service points, as well as contributing to occasional special projects. Students are expected to work between 6 and 20 hours per week, depending on their availability.
Punctuality, attention to detail, and dependability are essential for success in this role. Duties include providing customer service to library patrons, primarily focused on charging, discharging, shelving, and renewing library materials. The position requires comfort with data entry, the use of standard office software, and working within established guidelines and policies. A strong attention to detail, the ability to learn the Library of Congress call number system, and the ability to work independently and proactively are essential.
A background in music is preferred but not required. This is a customer/visitor service-oriented position.
