Job summary

The State of Missouri’s Department of Social Services – Children's Division is hiring to lead and manage social service programs for child protection, foster care, adoption, and family preservation. The position involves ensuring compliance with laws, directing planning and administration, and coordinating investigations and treatment services for at-risk children and families.

The role requires a strong background in social work or human services, with substantial experience in case management

Qualifications

  • Candidate must have a High School Diploma or equivalent with 9+ years of related experience or a Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of related experience in protective services and case management.
  • Experience includes investigation of abuse/neglect, foster care, adoptions and family-centered services, and in-home crisis intervention.
  • Valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Directs or assists in planning, development and administration of social service programs (child abuse/neglect, foster care, adoption, family-centered services).
  • Reviews and revises programs to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, policies, plans and procedures.
  • Directs or assists administrative staff in general management, policy development, and program coordination.
  • Conducts investigations, special studies, and prepares/reviews reports to evaluate policies and practices.
  • Assists in development and implementation of departmental planning.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Directs or assists in the overall planning, development and administration of social service programs such as: child abuse/neglect, foster care, adoption, permanency planning; family-centered services; prevention of juvenile delinquency; care, treatment and education of youth within the department's custody specifics, etc.
  • Reviews and/or revises programs in are of responsibility to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, policies, plans, and procedures.
  • Directs or assists administrative staff in general management, policy development, program planning, and/or coordinates assigned responsibilities.
  • Conducts investigations, special studies, and prepares or reviews reports and related information to evaluate existing organizations, policies, procedures, and practices as related to the assigned program.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of departmental planning.
  • Other duties as assigned.

A High School Diploma or High School Equivalent and Nine or more years of professional experience with a public or private agency in the delivery of protective services, including casework/case management in: investigation of abuse or neglect; coordination of foster care, adoptions, and family centered services; treatment/rehabilitation; and/or providing in-home family crisis intervention services, and possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license. OR

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably a degree in Social Work or comparable human services field; and Five or more years of professional experience with a public or private agency in the delivery of protective services, including casework/case management in: investigation of abuse or neglect; coordination of foster care, adoptions, and family centered services; treatment/rehabilitation; and/or providing in-home family crisis intervention services, and possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license.
