Job description

Project Overview

Louisiana LNG is located approximately 11 miles southwest of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The project includes a mid-scale, mixed-refrigerant liquefied natural gas (LNG) production and export facility on the west side of the Calcasieu River. There are five identical process plants. Each process plant consists of one gas pre‑treatment unit, one condensate stabilization unit, and four chart heavy hydrocarbon (HHC) removal and liquefaction groups. The facility will include associated utilities, refrigerant storage, three 235,000m³ full‑containment LNG storage tanks, and three marine berths.

Job Summary

In this role, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.

Major Responsibilities
  • Work Planning & Packaging
    • Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
    • Facilitates planning construction methods and procedures.
  • Material Management
    • Initiates requisitions for field purchases.
    • Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
  • Quantities
    • Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
  • Safety / Quality Control
    • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
  • Technical
    • Proactively considers continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.
  • System Turnover Coordinator
    • Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
  • STR / Subcontract Coordinator
    • Reviews and approves inspection test plans.
    • Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals.
Education And Experience Requirements
  • Typically requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge And Skills
  • Must demonstrate expert understanding of applicable industry codes and standards. Direct Hire Experience, preferably in a lump-sum environment.
  • Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes, including Standard Work Process Procedures.
  • Experience in the design and/or construction of LNG facilities is preferred. Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs), including TEAMWorks, Infoworks or Aconex, BPS or DSCS, PTR or Unifier, Agile, Navisworks, and other automation tools used on Bechtel projects, is an asset.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving ability.
Additional Information

Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued personal protection equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
