Job summary

Primoris Renewable Energy is seeking a Civil/Mechanical Equipment Operator for solar farm construction in New York. You will operate heavy equipment on-site—including excavators, bulldozers, forklifts, telehandlers, and pile drivers—to perform site preparation, trenching, and mechanical assembly with safety as a priority.

Minimum 2 years’ experience, ability to read blueprints, strong safety knowledge, and good hand-eye coordination are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating heavy civil/mechanical equipment.
• Proficiency operating multiple equipment types (excavators, bulldozers, forklifts, telehandlers, pile drivers).
• Knowledge of construction site safety procedures.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and plans is a plus.
• Physically capable of lifting, bending, and standing for long periods in various conditions.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
• Reliable transportation to job sites (non-CDL required).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, skid steers, forklifts, telehandlers, pile drivers, and other construction machinery safely and efficiently.
• Perform site preparation tasks including clearing, grading, and trenching for underground utilities and foundations.
• Assist with the installation and assembly of mechanical components for solar array structures.
• Conduct pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and project specifications.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and other team members.
• Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and report major malfunctions to maintenance personnel.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support project completion.
