Job summary

The Carlisle Operating System (COS) drives continuous improvement across CCM. The CI Project Manager leads lean initiatives, partners with plant management and business leaders to scope, manage and realize CI projects, and uses Six Sigma tools to improve process control and efficiency.

Travel is 20-40%, typically Monday–Friday 8 hours, with flexibility as required by customer and business needs; strong analytical, communication and training skills are essential for coaching teams and sustaining

Qualifications

  • Proficient understanding of Lean tools such as value stream mapping, 5S, TPM, and DMAIC.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes, business systems, and customer expectations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective project and time management.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, SAP, Minitab, and Wonderware.
  • Ability to identify, scope, and execute multiple improvement projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead CI projects and drive the CI journey and maturity within CCM.
  • Cascade goals and prioritize initiatives to support business objectives.
  • Track and report project savings and manage CI pipeline.
  • Apply lean tools to manufacturing or business processes to identify improvements.
  • Perform root cause analysis to reduce process variation.
  • Utilize statistical analysis and software to evaluate manufacturing processes.
  • Coordinate multiple teams and projects to sustain improvements across locations.
  • Update standards and improve training on CI standards.
  • Partner with leadership to align CI with business needs and share best practices.
  • Lead Kaizen events and coach CCM employees on Lean tools.

Job Description

The Carlisle Operating System (COS) is the continuous improvement (CI) effort at Carlisle Construction Materials. The CI Project Manager is the primary CI resource for continuous improvement. This individual will work closely with business leaders, plant management and local CI resources to assist with all aspects of their continuous improvement journey. The CI Project Manager will apply technical expertise and Lean Six Sigma knowledge and concepts to identify, scope, and manage projects and activities that will improve process control and overall efficiency. The position requires the ability to build strong working relationships and communicate effectively with plant personnel and management to effectively identify and execute the activities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are also required.

Employees in this position will typically work 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday, although hours may be adjusted based on customer and business requirements. Travel is expected to be around 20%-40%, depending on business needs.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Work with the CI team to further drive the overall CI journey (including the CI Framework and PD maturity progression) to establish a culture of continuous improvement throughout CCM.
  • Ensure that functional goals are being met by cascading them effectively, participating in strategic goal deployment, and prioritizing. Define key initiatives and ensure the appropriate number and type of events are taking place to support these objectives.
  • Track and report project savings, including CI savings, while managing the pipeline and ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of all related metrics.
  • Apply knowledge to the manufacturing or business processes to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Perform root cause analysis to reduce process
  • Utilize statistical analysis and software tools to evaluate manufacturing
  • Coordinate and manage numerous teams and projects to execute and sustain improvement projects, specifically read-across improvements to all locations in partnership with functional groups.
  • Update divisional standards and improve support and training on the standards.
  • Identify and correct weak spots relative to sustainment and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with leadership to align CI with business needs. Identify and communicate best practices throughout the organization.
  • Lead, scope, and participate in shop floor and business process Kaizen events, while coaching and training CCM employees on Lean tools for process improvement.
  • Work with manufacturing locations and office teams to increase the value realized from initiatives such as MDI, 5S, TPM, VSM, Process Mapping, SQDC, Standard Work and the CI Framework.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Proficient understanding of fundamental Lean tools including, but not limited to, Value Stream Mapping, Value Flow, 5S, Mistake Proofing, TPM, MDI, Root Cause Analysis, etc.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, business systems functions and how they inter-relate, and customer expectations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills, problem solving and analytical skills, conflict resolution, listening skills, coaching and facilitating skills.
  • Effective project and time management
  • Working knowledge of various software systems including Microsoft Office, SAP, Minitab, Wonderware, etc.
  • Ability to identify, scope, and execute numerous improvement projects

  • Ability to distinguish between value-added and non-value-added activities.
  • Base understanding of Six Sigma tools and approach including, but not limited to, DMAIC, Measurement System Analysis, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Process Capability, Experimental Design (DOE), etc.
Education And Experience
  • Required:
    • Associate’s degree in Operations, Purchasing, Business, Finance, Engineering or related field and 4+ years of experience in a lean Six Sigma enterprise
    • Equivalency: Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Purchasing, Business, Finance, Engineering or related field and 2+ years of experience in a lean Six Sigma enterprise
  • Preferred:
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably in Industrial or Mechanical)
    • Masters degree or MBA
    • Lean Champion Certification and Six Sigma Green/Black Belt
Working Conditions
  • Individual will operate primarily in an office setting or manufacturing setting (depending on location)
    • Work in manufacturing plants will occur, where there could be exposure to dirt, dust, and hotter/colder temperatures than office settings.
  • Ability to high-speed internet connection to facilitate video calls, systems management, and other project related activities.
