American Baptist Extension Corporation (ABEC) is seeking a Loan Officer to develop lending opportunities for churches and nonprofit institutions. The role blends relationship-building with commercial lending, financial analysis, and guidance through property acquisition, construction, renovation, and refinancing.

The position involves substantial travel (about 50%) across the U.S. and works closely with ABEC’s leadership and finance staff in a small-team setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree as listed in qualifications.
• Experience in commercial lending, banking, or nonprofit finance is required.
• Ability to read financial statements and budgets relevant to lending decisions.

Responsibilities

• Develop a pipeline of prospective borrowers across the American Baptist network.
• Respond to congregations considering property acquisition, construction, or refinancing.
• Advise church leaders on financing implications and planning questions.
• Manage loans from inquiry through underwriting and closing.
• Review financial statements and project budgets to assess debt service ability.
• Monitor loan performance and follow up with borrowers.
• Coordinate with ABEC staff and loan counsel; connect clients to ABEC resources.
• Travel approximately 50% of the time for church visits and meetings.
