Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning and upkeep of church, offices, meeting rooms, restrooms, and facilities.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, offices, hallways, and high-traffic areas.

• Empty trash, recycle, and replenish supplies.
• Maintain floors via sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and deep cleaning.
• Assist with setting up and taking down furniture for Masses and events.
• Support with seasonal cleaning and exterior grounds maintenance as needed.
• Report safety hazards and maintenance needs to supervisor.
• Handle and store cleaning supplies safely and properly.

Church Janitor

Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Parish is seeking a dedicated and reliable Church Janitor to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our parishioners, staff, students, and visitors. This position plays an important role in supporting the daily operations and cleanliness of our campus.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning, custodial, and general upkeep duties throughout the church, parish offices, meeting rooms, restrooms, other parish facilities including supporting with school daily cleaning duties.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, offices, hallways, gathering spaces, and other high-traffic areas.
• Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the church sanctuary, vestibule, pews, and other worship spaces with appropriate care and respect.
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles and replenish restroom and cleaning supplies.
• Maintain floors through sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and periodic deep cleaning.
• Assist with setting up and taking down tables, chairs, and equipment for Masses, parish events, meetings, funerals, and other activities.
• Perform light maintenance tasks and assist with routine facility upkeep, including seasonal cleaning and exterior grounds maintenance as needed.
• Monitor facilities for maintenance needs, safety hazards, and necessary repairs, promptly reporting concerns to the supervisor.
• Properly handle, store, and maintain cleaning supplies, chemicals, tools, and equipment in accordance with safety procedures.
• Help ensure church facilities remain clean, safe, welcoming, and properly maintained for parishioners, clergy, staff, and visitors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

• Previous experience in custodial services, janitorial work, facility maintenance, or a related field preferred.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, and standing or walking for extended periods.
• Familiarity with cleaning equipment, supplies, and safe cleaning practices.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
• Dependable, punctual, and willing to adapt to changing facility and event needs.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, with a respectful and service-oriented attitude.
• Ability to maintain discretion and demonstrate reverence when working in sacred spaces.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends to accommodate parish activities.
• Commitment to supporting the mission, values, and Catholic identity of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
• Ability to comply with applicable Archdiocese of Denver safe environment and employment requirements.

Schedule:

Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
