Job summary

First Baptist Atlanta in Atlanta, GA seeks a Facilities Craftsman to advance the ministry by building and maintaining safe, welcoming spaces through skilled woodworking, finish carpentry, and construction.

You will support worship and daily operations, work 40 hours Mon-Fri 8-4:30, with occasional evenings and weekends for emergencies, and report to the Director of Facilities. The role requires five+ years of woodworking experience, strong teamwork, and a heart for serving the church.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; technical training in carpentry, woodworking, construction, or related trade preferred.
• Five or more years of professional experience in woodworking, finish carpentry, cabinetry, or commercial construction.
• OSHA, forklift, aerial lift, or other skilled trade certifications preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and customer service skills.
• Current member of FBA or enrolled in First Class with the intention of becoming a member within the first three months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve facilities through skilled woodworking, finish carpentry, construction, and repair.
• Ensure ministry spaces are safe, functional, attractive, and ministry-ready.
• Read and interpret blueprints and project specifications.
• Safely operate woodworking machinery, power tools, ladders, lifts, and related equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop, including inventories of tools and materials.
