A Rocha USA is looking to hire a full-time Bilingual (English/Spanish) Church Engagement Coordinator to involve English and Spanish-speaking Christian congregations in urban tree planting. The role focuses on coordinating and executing projects that equip churches to integrate care for God’s creation into their congregations and communities. The role encompasses church recruiting and project execution, including communication and coordination across multiple locations and partners, with occasional travel to project sites outside of Austin, TX. We are seeking a candidate with 5 or more years of experience in project coordination, church relationship building, and community engagement.

As part of the A Rocha USA (ARUSA) team, the Church Engagement Coordinator will be based in Austin, Texas, and report to the Central Texas Conservation Project Director, with input and support from ARUSA's Director of Church Partnerships and members of the national team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies for church mobilization and engagement in urban tree-planting projects in the Austin, TX area and other locations
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with churches in project locations, and serve as the main point of contact
  • Coordinate training workshops and other project events, including scheduling, registration, communications, and follow-up
  • Support faith leaders and their congregations in the implementation of urban tree planting initiatives
  • Document church participation and outcomes
  • Complete timely reporting on project metrics and engage in storytelling.
  • Support the development of faith-rooted educational resources on tree planting and care
  • Participate in all the required training
  • Perform other duties related to the Church Engagement Program as required or assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Five or more years of experience in project coordination and community mobilization/engagement
  • Demonstrated ability to work with faith communities in multi-racial settings
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish
  • Working knowledge of primary social media and communication platforms
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to track deliverables, organize data, and produce reports

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of the nuances and complexities of the Christian traditions in North America
  • Experience in participatory planning
  • Familiarity with the conservation and/or environmental sectors

Position Status and Salary

Annual Salary: $55,000-$60,000. Full-time, exempt employee. (Note, this position is contingent on grant funding. Funding is currently approved for three years.).

Location

Austin, TX. Occasional travel is required to other locations in the US (e.g., Nashville, Tennessee, and Orlando, Florida).
