Job summary

The Veterans Health Administration is seeking an Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) to provide chronic pain management services to veterans as part of the Pain Management Team, in support of CARA. The role includes history and physicals, outpatient care, prescriptions, ordering diagnostics, and patient education.

Licensed practice within scope, work hours 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, and collaboration across facility committees are expected.

Responsibilities

• Performs consultations, including history and physical examinations during in-person, telephone and virtual encounters.
• Provides ongoing outpatient care for assigned patients per VHA policies and guidelines.
• Prescribes medications within defined scope of practice and orders diagnostic studies (e.g., x-rays, labs, ECG).
• Initiates and expedites requests for consultations and scheduling tests; documents procedures and notes.
• Provides education and counseling to patients and families; supports Pain Committee and interdisciplinary pain care forums.
