Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Central Territory is seeking a Kettle Assistant to support bell ringing for the annual Christmas campaign, reporting to Corps Officers.

Responsibilities include data entry and scheduling with the Register to Ring system, transporting kettles and bell ringers, fielding inquiries, addressing kettle issues with officers, and processing funds with the bank as needed. A high school diploma and background check are required.

• Background check and annual motor vehicle check with valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate kettle sites and scheduling using the Register to Ring system.
• Assist with transportation of kettles and bell ringers to assigned locations.
• Field inquiries from bell ringers, kettle sites, drivers and others.
• Address kettle issues in partnership with corps officers.
• Sort kettle funds and deliver to the bank when needed.
• Maintain a positive atmosphere with courteous, professional communication.
• Maintain Safe from Harm certification compliance.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Summary: The Kettle Assistant position exists to further mission of the Salvation Army by supporting bell ringing and other logistical needs related to our annual Christmas campaign.

Reports To: Corps Officer(s)

Pay Grade: 202

Pay Range: $15.75 - $18.90 Hourly

Qualifications:

Must be of good moral character and able to interact in a friendly and compassionate manner. Candidates must have a passion for fulfilling the mission of The Salvation Army and must be articulate in presenting the same to others.

Candidates must successfully pass the pre-employment background inquiry and annual motor vehicle check with a valid driver’s license.

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent. Significant Customer service-based experiences will be considered in lieu of.

Skills:

• Team player, self-starter, and perform well with minimal supervision.
• Must have an interest and ability to work with people of diverse racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds in a sensitive and culturally appropriate manner.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience or capacity to demonstrate positive interpersonal skills and work as a cooperative team member.
• Must be able to workdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary. Especially in emergent situations.
• Typing skills necessary. Previous database experience helpful. Will be required to learn kettle management database and systems. Must be comfortable around computers and learning new computer software.

• Responsible for data entry and complete usage of the Territorial platform (Register to Ring) to coordinate kettle sites, scheduling such as daily routes, entering kettle totals daily, payroll for paid bell ringers and thanking volunteer groups.
• Assist with the transportation of kettles and bell ringers to assigned locations.
• Assist in fielding phone calls/inquiries pertaining to kettle operations from bell ringers, kettle sites, kettle drivers and others.
• In association with corps officers, ensure that any kettle issues are addressed.
• Help with the sorting of kettle funds and delivery to the bank when needed.
• Maintain positive work atmosphere through appropriate conflict management, courteous demeanor, and professional and appropriate communication practices.
• Maintain compliance in The Salvation Army’s "Safe from Harm" Certification.
• Perform other related and special duties as needed and assigned by supervisor.

Local travel required.

Position Ranking:

• Temporary status, no more than 90 days. Must work through December 24 th .

Physical Demands/ Work Environment:

This Position is required to do basic business and office work. In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the individual is regularly required to talk and listen, stand, walk, sit and use hands. Individual must be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occassionally lift up to one hundred pounds. The use of Office and Computer Equipment will be necessary. Vision abilities will require close vision. Work may be performed indoors and outdoors to meet the needs of the position. There is low to moderate noise level for this position.
