Job summary

The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division is seeking a Christmas Driver for Crystal Lake Corps. This part-time role supports the kettle season by transporting kettles, loading and securing them, and ensuring timely returns to the Crystal Lake location.

Responsibilities include driving Salvation Army vehicles, coordinating with program managers on equipment issues, and maintaining security of funds while fostering positive relationships with staff and bell ringers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Good driving record with one-year experience and good knowledge of roads in the bell ringing area.
• Pass TSA MVR check.

Responsibilities

• Transport kettles, lock them on the kettle stands at the beginning of the kettle day.
• Pick up kettles at the end of the kettle day.
• Safely return kettles within route time allowed to the Salvation Army in Crystal Lake.
• Drive Salvation Army owned vehicles only.
• Allow bell ringers to finish ringing before removing the kettles.
• Coordinate with Volunteer & Community Relations Manager/Corps Officers on all kettle and equipment problems that need to be addressed.
• Keep monies secure at all times.
• Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with bell ringers and store employees.
• Follow assigned weekly driving schedules. Flexibility in shift hours is required, as schedules may change weekly
• Other duties as assigned.

OUTCOMES

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Under general supervision of the Volunteer & Community Relations Manager/Corps Officers with some freedom to plan, schedule and carry out responsibilities within established policies and

guidelines.

This individual relates to, and interacts with, a wide range of contacts both within and

outside the Salvation Army. In these contacts, they act as a representative of the

Army and its mission.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

This individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved, as well as the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of accomplishing assigned goals.

Education/Experience

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.

POSITION LIMITATIONS

• This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

• This position is required to do light physical work and must be able to lift at least 25 lbs.
• In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit for lengthy periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
• The employee is frequently required to walk, stoop, kneel or crouch; reach with and use arms and hands as in the operation of a vehicle.

• Must be able to travel to various kettle locations.
