Job Description
The purpose of the Director, Visual Production (DVP) is to provide pastoral and organizational oversight to all visual production staff, contractors, and serving team (volunteer) members. The DVP will work collaboratively with the Director of Audio Management (DAM) to oversee the financial, strategic, and ministry plans for all media operations at all Christ Church campuses. Together, the DVP and DAM will help bring clarity and organizational structure to the overall vision, target goals, growth stages, and other leadership areas. The DVP and DAM, along with the support of the Associate Director of Media (ADM), will seek to support the vision of the Church set forth by the Lead Pastor, Presbytery, and Executive Team in the production of innovative, creative, and culturally relevant multimedia products that communicate the power and ongoing significance of the gospel of Jesus Christ in our culture.
• The DVP will have oversight of 5-6 direct reports, with total management responsibility of an additional 10-15 people, to help drive the operational effectiveness of all visual production including broadcast (in-person campuses), livestream (online campus), and video promos (special events).
• Determine the suitability of agency and vendor relationships and the best financial execution of these relationships.
• Responsible for ensuring technical expertise and requirements are met for all visual production staff, including video editors, broadcast engineers, technical directors, lighting technicians, and camera operators.
• Provide leadership to all visual production serving team members, including organizational structure, recruitment, training, and ongoing education.
• Interface regularly with media department leads to ensure efficient coverage and scheduling of all assets for in-person and online events.
• Develop a comprehensive Departmental Assessment including vision, mission, and strategies aligned with our mission and strategic plan.
• Collaborate with the DAM to review financial spending and establish metrics for a monthly dashboard report to the COO.
• Build operational capacity to support the Church’s growth while maintaining team health and work-life balance.
• Develop an organizational chart, define roles, and oversee recruitment, training, and staffing.
• Create schedules for production elements supporting services and events, including scripts, promotional videos, and stories.
• Research, procure, and implement new technologies to enhance media capabilities.
• Collaborate to ensure staffing at all campuses, including oversight of key media roles.
• Engage weekly with campus and teaching pastors for media coordination.
• Oversee stage design, including LED screens and lighting.
• Schedule weekly technical run-throughs and system checks, including service debriefs.
• Ensure media stations have operational checklists for service preparation.
• Delegate and quality check all online media aspects, including live streaming and video loading.
• Train team members on technical procedures.
• Schedule and oversee video posting, editing, and translations.
• Coordinate creation of promotional videos with lead times of 3-6 months.
• Schedule load-in/load-out and technical rehearsals for events.
• Collaborate on event media needs and staffing schedules.
• Plan annual and monthly schedules for events and conduct rehearsals.
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields.
• 7-10 years in media team management, project development, and broadcast management.
• 5-7 years in ministry/nonprofit leadership.
• Strategic planning and organizational infrastructure expertise.
• Initiative, foresight, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and proofreading skills.
