Job summary

Ascension Lutheran School in Thousand Oaks seeks a Long-Term Substitute Music Teacher for TK–8 from mid-September to mid-January. The teacher will provide music instruction, foster a Christ-centered, engaging environment, and support student creativity, confidence, and appreciation for music.

Responsibilities include delivering curriculum, preparing for the Christmas production and spring musical, collaborating with faculty, and communicating with families and the Principal.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching music in elementary/middle school settings.
• Strong musical knowledge and performance skills.
• Ability to teach TK–8 ages and abilities.
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• Experience directing or assisting with school productions or performances is desirable.
• Heart for working with children and the school's mission.
• Bachelor's degree in music or education preferred, but relevant experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach engaging, developmentally appropriate music lessons for TK–8.
• Coordinate Christmas production and spring musical preparations.
• Develop and follow a coherent music curriculum across grade levels.
• Create a joyful, respectful, orderly classroom; support all learners.
