Location: Brooklyn, NY
Compensation: $40-$100/per class. Rate changes based on experience, education, & length of workshop.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Choir/Vocal Teaching Artist to join our arts education team. The ideal candidate will have experience in choral music or vocal instruction and a passion for working with elementary-age students. The role involves creating a positive and inclusive learning environment, fostering students’ vocal growth, and preparing them for a culminating performance at the end of the academic year.

Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to design and deliver vocal-based arts programming for elementary students.
  2. Teach vocal techniques, harmonization, and choral repertoire suitable for young learners.
  3. Create lesson plans that align with both educational standards and the artistic goals of the program.
  4. Prepare students for a culminating choral performance, ensuring they develop both technical vocal skills and stage confidence.
  5. Promote an inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and creative expression.
  6. Ensure that all activities are conducted safely and respectfully, adhering to organizational policies.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of two years of experience teaching vocal music or choir in a school or community setting.
  2. Expertise in choral music, vocal pedagogy, or a related discipline.
  3. Strong classroom management skills and the ability to connect with elementary-age students.
  4. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  5. Must pass a background check or already be fingerprinted with the Department of Education (NYC DOE).

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Prior experience working in arts education programs with a focus on choral or vocal instruction.
  2. Bilingual candidates and individuals from traditionally underrepresented communities are strongly encouraged to apply.
