Job Responsibilities
  1. Plan and assess curriculum and instruction effectively.
  2. Meet and instruct students at designated locations and times.
  3. Develop a program that meets students' individual needs, interests, and abilities.
  4. Ensure effective instruction by clarifying learning goals and using appropriate techniques.
  5. Utilize innovative instructional strategies and technology to enhance learning.
  6. Create a conducive classroom environment aligned with students' maturity and interests.
  7. Promote high standards for achievement and behavior.
  8. Guide learning towards curriculum standards with clear objectives.
  9. Implement district's educational mission and standards.
  10. Regularly assess and document student progress and provide reports.
  11. Document learning challenges and seek specialist assistance when needed.
  12. Ensure safety of students, equipment, and facilities.
  13. Maintain accurate records as per policies and laws.
  14. Assist in policy implementation and develop classroom behavior rules.
  15. Be available to students and parents outside instructional hours as needed.
  16. Maintain professional competence and attend staff meetings.
  17. Establish cooperative relationships and open communication with stakeholders.
  18. Promote diversity and equitable opportunities for all students, including those with special needs.
  19. Support students with disabilities in a general education setting.
  20. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required
  1. Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  2. Valid Massachusetts teaching license in appropriate grade and subject area.
  3. Sheltered English Immersion Endorsement for core content teachers.
  4. Ability to work with diverse populations.
  5. Knowledge of MA Curriculum frameworks, instruction, and assessment.
  6. Understanding of differentiated instruction and response to intervention is helpful.
  7. Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
Qualifications Preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish skills.
Additional Information

All teachers are members of the Chelsea Teachers Union (CTU). The school day lasts 6.5 hours, with longer hours possible for extended day programs. The school year comprises 184 days.
