Choir Director
Hours Range: 8-12 hours/week
Pay Range: $24-27/hr
Under the general supervision of the Director of Worship, this position is responsible for organizing and directing the UCC Praise Choir. This person is expected to work with the Director of Worship, Lead Pastor and other preaching pastors to implement the choir program. In addition, this person will develop special events and ministries that enhance the impact of UCC in Davis and surrounding communities, and support the UCC Vision Statement.
Reports to: Executive Director of Worship
Key Areas of Ministry Responsibility
- Direct & Grow the Praise Choir
- Direct the Praise Choir, primarily providing music for the worship services and special performances including weekly rehearsals, planning for rehearsals, managing the printed music, keeping the choral library up-to-date, etc.
- Choose appropriate repertoire for the Praise Choir, including ordering new music
- Rehearse and direct instrumentalists working with the Praise Choir
- Work with the Director of Worship to try new ways to creatively grow the Praise Choir and try new things with the choir as we navigate a season of rebuilding and reimagining
Choir Responsibilities
- The Praise Choir will rehearse weekly (September-June) and sing at least once per month during those months. If possible, the choir will also sing in July and August. The choir will also give additional performances for special occasions.
- The Praise Choir will present a yearly Sing Christmas! Program.
- The Praise Choir will be responsible for the Good Friday Tenebrae service.
- From time to time, singers will be invited to join the Praise Choir for special performances.
