Job summary

Plastomics, Inc. in St. Louis, MO, is seeking a Molecular Biologist to join a fast-paced startup-style team developing chloroplast engineering in major crops. The role focuses on cloning strategy design, assay development, and transgene event analysis using ddPCR and standard molecular methods.

You will maintain meticulous records, collaborate across a cross-functional group, and communicate progress to leadership as part of advancing novel trait products toward real-world agricultural impact.

Qualifications

  • BS with 7+ years of experience in molecular biology or related field
  • Proven track record in complex cloning approaches, including toxic genes
  • Hands-on ddPCR for genotyping experience
  • Ability to work under tight timelines in a fast-paced startup environment

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement transformation vector cloning strategies and novel assay designs for detecting transplastomic events
  • Identify and analyze transgenic events using DNA, RNA, protein analysis and ddPCR genotyping
  • Maintain detailed and organized project records and data
  • Communicate research progress clearly to team members and leadership
