Job summary

CRNA in Alaska is seeking a Doctor of Chiropractic to assess, plan, and implement evidence-based treatment plans aimed at improving mobility, relieving pain, and restoring function for patients with disease or injury.

You will collaborate with other departments, maintain patient confidentiality, and participate in community and marketing efforts while staying flexible with hours and grant-related tasks.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Chiropractic degree and ability to obtain Alaska license.
• Ability to obtain Alaska license within 6 months of hire date.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Review physician referral and patient records to help determine diagnosis and appropriate chiropractic care.
• Perform and document initial exam, evaluating data to identify problems and determine diagnosis prior to intervention.
• Plan, prepare, and carry out individually designed chiropractic treatment programs to restore function and alleviate dysfunction.
• Ensure the care plan is followed for each patient.
• Administer adjustments, manual exercises, massage and related techniques.
• Counsel patients about nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress, and ergonomics.
• Record prognosis, treatment, and progress in the EMR system.
• Refer to appropriate practitioners when diagnosis is outside scope.
• Meet with referring physicians to promote strong professional relationships.
• May work before/after hours and assist with grant management if schedule is <80% booked.

Job description

Assess, plan, organize, and participate in evidence-based chiropractic treatment plans that improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, decrease or prevent deformity, and restore functional mobility in patients with disease or injury.

JOB DUTIES

• Review physician’s referral and patient’s medical records to help determine the diagnosis and appropriate chiropractic care
• Perform and document initial exam, evaluating the data to identify problems and determine diagnosis prior to intervention
• Plan, prepare, and carry out individually designed programs of chiropractic treatment to maintain, improve, or restore physical functioning, alleviate, and prevent physical dysfunction in patients
• Ensure the plan of care is followed for each patient regardless of the chiropractor’s individual schedules
• Administer chiropractic adjustments, manual exercises, massage and/or manual techniques to help relieve pain, increase the patient’s strength, and decrease or prevent deformity or disuse
• Counsel patients about nutrition, exercise, sleeping habits, stress management, injury prevention, ergonomics, and ways to promote health
• Establish a care plan and evaluate effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatment plan as necessary to achieve maximum benefits
• Continually record prognosis, treatment, response, and progress in patient’s chart via the company’s EMR system
• Inform patients when diagnosis reveals findings outside of their scope and refer to an appropriate practitioner
• Participate in community and marketing events to educate the public and establish a presence in the area.
• Meet with referring physicians on a continual basis to promote a strong relationship that is both beneficial to the patient and the practice
• Perform other duties as assigned
• May require work before or after normal business hours on a flexible, but punctual, schedule
• If the schedule is less than 80% booked, the chiropractor could be assigned to help with grant management

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Strong understanding and sensitivity to Alaska Native culture and lifestyle.
• Strong written, analytical, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
• Computer literate and able to operate various data entry programs.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality as required for HIPAA, other regulations, and organizational matters.
• Willing to participate in cross-training to provide other functions and services for the department.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Successful completion of a Doctor of Chiropractic program
• License to practice in the state of Alaska or ability to procure a chiropractic license in the state of Alaska within 6 months of hire date.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Complete and successfully pass a background check.
• Complete and successfully pass a driving history check.
• Knowledge of on-site medical procedures, terminology, and medications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 1-2 years of post-residency clinical work experience.
• Sports Medicine background

Physical Requirements

The work is generally active, with occasional mild to moderate physical exertion, requiring routine standing, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, demonstration of rehabilitation exercises, and manipulation of weights ranging from 10 - 200lbs with intermittent periods of sitting. The majority of work is performed in a clinical office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities. CRNA is a smoke-free and tobacco-free campus. May require local travel between CRNA compact services, which may involve exposure to extreme weather conditions. Works in an environment where protecting client confidentiality is essential. Personal Protective Equipment will be provided as needed.

Work will be monitored through meetings, reports, and regular communication with the immediate supervisor. General operational guidelines are based on program requirements, conditions of grant award(s), and CRNA policies and procedures.
