Job summary

Knife River Corporation in the Boise Valley is seeking a Chip Seal Superintendent for the Southern Idaho Division to lead field operations on active road projects.

You will supervise daily work, coordinate staffing, schedule tasks, manage materials and equipment, and ensure compliance with project specs and safety policies.

The role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to work long shifts including nights, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of chip seal road construction, material, repair, and maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of safety standards, regulations, and best construction practices.
  • Knowledge of the operation of heavy highway construction and maintenance equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps, engineering drawings, and blueprints relative to road and bridge construction, maintenance, and repair.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to work both day and night shifts if necessary. Shifts may vary according to project demands
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to travel if job requires. During heavy construction season, candidate may be on the road for several months at a time.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.

  • Review project details with project manager on a weekly basis and monitor work progress to meet project schedules and specifications.
  • Provide strong leadership skills by possessing the ability to motivate and provide mentorship to all employees, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
