Job summary

Enviva is seeking a Chip Mill Operator in Alabama to oversee continuous operation of the chip mill, focusing on safety, equipment setup, monitoring, and cleaning. The position requires an internal certification or high school diploma, strong math skills, and the ability to follow instructions.

Responsibilities include operating all mill equipment, performing maintenance, recording paperwork, and escalating issues for timely resolution in a fast-paced outdoor environment.

Qualifications

• Must have internal company certification and ability to operate mill equipment.
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong math and measurement skills.
• Willingness to work with little supervision and in varying conditions.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate all assigned equipment in the chipping process, including knuckle boom, front end loaders, grapple loaders and bulldozers.
• Troubleshooting and operation of woodyard equipment (deblocker, chipper, bark hog, conveyors).
• Operate computers and HMI screens to monitor and correct operational values.
• Perform daily checks and preventive maintenance on woodyard equipment.
• Inspect and maintain equipment to keep it in good working order.
• Maintain, replace, and repair chipper parts as needed (clamps, wear segments, knives).
• Maintain required paperwork.
• Coordinate housekeeping to meet company standards.
• Escalate issues promptly for proper resolution.
