Position Title: Chinese Language Summer Camp Teacher (2025)
Position Type: CLV Seasonal - Summer
Employment Status: Seasonal
General Employment Period: July – August
General Work Schedule: Up to seven days per week
General Shift Hours: 14 – 16 hours per day, plus overnight residential supervision responsibilities
Minimum Salary: starting at $520 per week

Job Summary/Basic Function

Under the direction of the Credit Facilitator, you will plan, teach and assess language classes in the target language. This opportunity is for you if you love being outdoors, making friends from all over the world and working with children. Join us this summer!

Your Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate grade records, complete mid-session progress reports and final evaluations.
  • Maintain communication with the Credit Facilitator on the progress of all credit participants in their classes and elective courses.
  • Live in a cabin with children (“villagers”), as part of a counseling team, to provide supervision.
  • Assist with light cleaning of the Village site (including cabins, bathrooms, activity areas, etc.) with villagers and counseling team to ensure a safe, hygienic space for everyone.
  • Lead games, Cabin Council and other activities to create a cabin community.
  • Supervise and interact with students during meals.
  • Assist with other aspects of Village life, including cultural presentations and activity periods.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the dean and leadership staff.
Your Skills and Abilities:
  • Conversational and written proficiency in target language.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to model those for younger children.
  • Demonstrates maturity & good judgment.
  • Enjoy interacting with and managing children.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in adapting to changing situations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous Concordia Language Villages or summer camp experience.
  • Teaching licensure.
  • Experience as a teacher in the target language.
