Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track teaching faculty position in Chinese to begin in August 2027. The ideal candidate is a dedicated language educator who can work both collaboratively and independently and contribute to WPI’s Global Asia initiatives.

WPI operates on a seven-week term schedule; the hired faculty member will teach 8 courses per year (2 per term) and employ innovative pedagogical approaches while pursuing ongoing

Qualifications

• Education & Credentials: A Ph.D. or Ed.D. is preferred in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language; a Master’s may be considered for Instructor level.
• Language: Native or near-native Mandarin; professional-level English required.
• Teaching Experience: 5+ years of college-level Chinese teaching in the United States; familiarity with diverse methods.
• Professional Qualities: Collaborative, adaptable, committed to growth.

Responsabilités

• Teach 8 courses per academic year (two per 7-week term).
• Deliver engaging, inclusive Chinese instruction to undergrads.
• Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to department and institutional initiatives.
• Apply innovative pedagogical approaches based on best practices.
