The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) invites applications for a Spring Intern in the Freeman Chair in China Studies in Washington, DC. This paid, in-person internship supports research on China’s domestic politics and foreign policy, as well as Taiwan and cross-Strait issues, for a three-month term starting January 18, 2027.

The ideal candidate has strong research, writing, and Chinese-language skills, plus familiarity with primary source document analysis, and is able to

Qualifications

• Current undergraduates, graduates, or recent graduates; master's preferred.
• Superior research, analysis, and writing skills.
• Background in China’s domestic politics and foreign policy.
• Advanced Chinese-language reading and research skills.
• Proactive work ethic and strong communication.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Eligible to work in the United States.
• Brief writing sample (≤3 pages).
• List of 2 references with contact details.

Responsabilités

• Assists in research, analysis, writing for articles and events.
• Develops content for the Freeman Chair’s social media platforms.
• Reviews Chinese-English translations for accuracy.
• Monitors Chinese-language media sources and reports.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
