Job summary

Godby Hearth & Home is hiring a dedicated chimney technician to inspect, clean, and install gas and wood burning hearth products in residential settings. The role emphasizes safety, blueprint reading, and customer-focused service.

You will work full-time year-round, with overtime possible during busy seasons, from 7:30am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. Benefits include paid time off and health insurance; growth opportunities are available.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Inspect, clean, and maintain residential chimneys and fireplaces.
• Remove soot and debris safely and efficiently.
• Identify structural or safety issues and recommend solutions.
• Install and repair chimney liners, caps, and dampers as needed.
• Perform fireplace installations with correct ventilation and safety compliance.
• Provide clear explanations of findings to clients and offer recommendations.
• Follow company safety procedures and use power/hand tools proficiently.

Godby Hearth & Home is seeking a highly motivated individual to sweep, inspect, and install gas and wood burning hearth products. We’ve crafted company guidelines to utilize manufacturer specifications, architectural drawings, safety manuals. This is a full-time year-round position with optional overtime during the busy season.

What’s in it for you?

• This position will pay $19 - $30 per hour, scaling with experience.
• You will work from 7:30am to 5pm Monday through Friday (45 hours per week). There will be some weekends available during the busy season for overtime.

What would you do if hired?

• Inspect, clean, and maintain residential and commercial chimneys and fireplaces
• Remove soot, creosote buildup, and debris safely and efficiently
• Identify structural or safety issues and recommend solutions
• Install and repair chimney liners, caps, and dampers as needed
• Perform fireplace installations, including setup, assembly, and ensuring proper ventilation and safety compliance
• Provide excellent customer service and clearly explain findings to clients
• Follow OSHA guidelines and company safety procedures.
• This job will require you to climb ladders and work on roofs. Bring a good set of knees.
• This job also requires that you be able to lift 75+ lbs. individually, and in some cases over 200 lbs. lifting as a team.
• A strong attention to details and solid time management skills to prioritize project deadlines.
• General mechanical aptitude required. This includes using multiple power and hand tools proficiently.
• An understanding of gas and electrical connections is preferred, but not necessary.
• Familiarity with reading blueprints and framing specifications, as well as some light framing skills.
• Effective written and oral communication.
• An ability to use critical thinking for resolutions of jobsite installations.
• Valid driver’s license – no DUI in background check (insurance requirement).
