Sweep-A-Chim, a locally owned chimney and hearth company, is hiring a Chimney & Hearth Service Technician in Harford County, MD. The role is full-time with competitive pay and incentives, offering a long-term career path and paid training through our structured apprenticeship.

You will diagnose and repair gas and pellet stoves, perform inspections and sweeps, rebuild chimneys, install inserts and stone veneer, and contribute to masonry work. Growth into leadership is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Proven mechanical aptitude diagnosing and repairing equipment (electronics, HVAC, vehicles, appliances, or similar)
• Hands-on construction or trade background
• Comfort working at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and use power tools daily
• Reliable, accountable, and motivated to grow into leadership
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license, clean record, and reliable transportation

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service, and repair gas and pellet stoves (electronics, ignition, venting)
• Perform chimney/fireplace inspections and sweeps
• Rebuild and repair chimneys (tear-downs, crowns, flues)
• Install fireplaces and wood, gas, and pellet inserts
• Install stone veneer on fireplaces, chimneys, and exteriors
• Complete masonry repairs: tuckpointing, brick replacement, dampers, caps, liners
• Troubleshoot fireplaces, stoves, and venting
• Give honest recommendations, write estimates, and deliver strong customer service
• Keep accurate records and follow safety protocols
