Job summary

Smart Family of Cooling Products seeks a Chiller Service Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair chillers and ancillary equipment for client facilities in Baton Rouge, LA. This role emphasizes hands-on work and reliable operation of complex refrigeration systems.

The candidate will read operation manuals, use testing devices, and apply mechanical skills to install, service, and adjust components while following safety standards. Overtime may be required as project needs arise.

Qualifications

• Requires high mechanical aptitude and ability to read operation/repair manuals.
• Experience with chillers and ancillary equipment preferred.
• Must be able to operate hand and power tools safely.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on chiller equipment to ensure they operate properly.
• Inspect and troubleshoot problems with existing chiller equipment.
• Repair or replace parts on existing chiller equipment.
• Install, maintain, and repair industrial refrigeration systems including refrigerant handling, instrumentation, control valves, motors, motor controls, motor switch gear, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s), soft-starts, pumps, exchangers, filter and refrigeration controllers.
• Complies with company and industry safety standards.
• Position may require working up to 15% overtime throughout the year, as directed by the client and/or upper management.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Chiller Service Technician will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair chillers and their ancillary equipment.

Essential Job Duties

• Perform routine maintenance on chiller equipment to ensure they operate properly.
• Inspect and troubleshoot problems with existing chiller equipment.
• Repair or replace parts on existing chiller equipment.
• Install, maintain, and repair industrial refrigeration systems including refrigerant handling, instrumentation, control valves, motors, motor controls, motor switch gear, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s), soft-starts, pumps, exchangers, filter and refrigeration controllers.
• Complies with company and industry safety standards.
• Position may require working up to 15% (no more than 300 hours) overtime throughout the year, as directed by the client and/or upper management.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Extensive knowledge of chiller systems and equipment.
• Ability to use power and hand tools.
• Ability to use thermometers, pressure gauges, and other testing devices to evaluate chiller equipment.
• Ability to read operation and repair manuals for chiller equipment.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Excellent mechanical skills.
• Excellent communication skills as required to interact with customer.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational/technical school training or apprenticeship preferred.
• Three years of related experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Will be required to work in outdoor weather conditions.
• Prolonged periods of being in a stationary position.
• Must be able to ascend/ descend on a ladder as needed.
• Must be able to transport up to 50 pounds at a time.
