Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Part-time Childwatch Counselor to provide a safe, welcoming environment for children while their parents participate in YMCA programs. You will supervise, implement activities, and ensure adherence to YMCA policies, supporting families in a caring community.

Responsibilities include daily supervision, activity facilitation, record-keeping, and collaboration with staff to maintain a positive YMCA experience for all children and families.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• At least 6 months of experience with youth.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications required.
• Ability to engage with children positively and create a respectful environment.
• Pass a local/state background and FBI fingerprinting check.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children and ensure safety in a welcoming environment.
• Implement age-appropriate activities per YMCA curriculum.
• Enforce policies and maintain clean, safe spaces.
• Record attendance and monitor child sign-in/out procedures.
• Participate in staff meetings and trainings.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about daily activities and concerns.
• Support leadership and teamwork within Childwatch operations.
