Qualifications

• Requires two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college coursework with 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences; or a bachelor's degree with 12 credits in these fields; or an equivalent combination of experience and coursework plus one year of paraprofessional case management experience.
• Educational requirements may be met within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
• PA residency requirement is waived for this title.
• Applicants will be subject to criminal history checks including PA State Police, PA Child Abuse history, and FBI fingerprint clearance.

Responsibilities

• Safety Checks: Meet with children, caregivers, and others to determine if the child is safe
• Abuse Reports: Receive and assess suspected abuse or neglect within the county
• Support Planning: Recommend medical evaluation when injuries are present and guide next steps
• Family Guidance: Encourage positive growth and emotional progress for children and families
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate documentation and records of all client interactions

Education

Bachelor's degree with 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences

Two years of experience as County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college coursework including 12 credits in related social sciences

Equivalency: combination of experience and training including 12 credits in sociology/social sciences and one year of paraprofessional case management
