Job description

Description

Do you want to make a positive change in the lives of children & youth?

Are you a team player who can implement behavior management strategies to improve the lives of others?

At Devereux, as a Habilitation Counselor, you will have the opportunity to work with children ages 8-21 with IDD/BH/MH diagnoses and will impact their lives by unlocking their full potential daily.

From a behavioral perspective, the youth in this program have skill deficits in impulse control, emotion regulation, and developmental skills due to trauma. This trauma often affects their resilience, leading to feelings of emptiness, fear, abandonment, impulsivity, emotion dysregulation, and self-destructive behaviors. These traits can result in challenges in school, family conflicts, dependency, delinquency, lack of peer support, and difficulties in vocational and life skills.

Every day as a Habilitation Counselor, you will...

  1. Supervise and assist individuals in implementing program plans to improve social, emotional, physical, and self-help skills.
  2. Develop drafts of D-PBIS Lesson Plans for review and implementation by the multidisciplinary team.
  3. Ensure the safety of the individuals you work with.
  4. Engage in daily activities such as ADLs, recreational, and social activities.
  5. Address and redirect inappropriate behaviors.
  6. Implement treatment plan goals and objectives.

You will be offered:

  • Opportunities to learn and grow in behavioral health and human services fields.
  • A fun, fast-paced, supportive environment to participate in treatment planning.
  • ASCEND - Career Accelerator Program
  • Paid training and professional development
  • Benefit eligibility after 30 days of employment (more at MyDevereuxBenefits.org)

Available Shift: 7am - 3pm | 2pm - 10pm

Schedule: One weekday and one weekend day off

Compensation: $20.25 - $23.05/hr (based on experience and education)
