Job summary

The Archdiocese of Chicago is seeking a Children’s Faith Formation Coordinator to plan and support First Communion, First Reconciliation, and Confirmation for parish youth, and to assist with Vacation Bible School and weekly Mass preparation.

Reporting to the Director of Evangelization and Faith Formation, you will work with catechists, coordinate sacraments, recruit volunteers, and help engage families in parish programs year-round. Evening and weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• Practicing Catholic with a heart for Evangelization, committed to Gospel values and teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Degree or Certificate in Religious Studies, Theology, Pastoral Studies or other related field relevant to position or commensurate experience.
• Strong verbal and written communications.
• Excellent organizational and time management competencies, including managing priorities.
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team environment and has a “Service Mindset” when working with others.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Google Suite or Microsoft Office, agile with technology.
• Available to work evenings and weekends, when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Planning and executing First Communion, First Reconciliation, and Confirmation liturgies for children/teens; coordinating sacraments, meetings, retreats, and communications.
• Planning and executing Vacation Bible School with volunteers, budgeting, and materials.
• Planning for weekly weekday masses and Sunday family masses, including preparing participating children.
• Planning and leading religious events with students (Advent, Lent, Stations of the Cross, etc.).
• Reaching out to parents to invite them to OCIA or parish offerings.
