Job summary

Discovery Programs on the Upper West Side is seeking dance teachers for Mondays and Thursdays afternoons and Saturday mornings for the school year starting September 14.

Teach recreational dance with emphasis on technique, musicality, and positive engagement. Responsibilities include staging recital dances, evaluating students, recording attendance, and collaborating with staff.

Qualifications

• Ballet, Jazz and Hip Hop teaching experience with children ages 2–12.
• 2+ years experience.
• Available from September through mid-June.
• Energetic, positive, and interactive; uses positive teaching methods and collaborates with administrative staff.

Responsibilities

• Teach recreational dance classes with emphasis on technique, movement, and musicality.
• Stage and choreograph age-appropriate dances for recital/concert.
• Fill out student evaluations 1–2 times yearly.
• Record student attendance for each class.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings, including ones outside regular teaching hours.
• Communicate with Director regarding concerns and class structure.

Discovery Programs, an early childhood, dance, gymnastics and recreation program on the Upper West Side is seeking dance teachers for Mondays afternoons, Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings for the school yearstarting September 14th.

Qualifications:

Ballet, Jazz and Hip Hop teaching experience, particularly with children ages two through twelve.2+ years experience. Must be vailable from Septemberthrough mid-June.The candidate will be energetic, positive, and interactive. They must use positive teaching methods and work collaboratively with administrative staff.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Teach recreational dance classes with an emphasis on proper technique, creative movement, and musicality.
• Stage and choregraph age-appropriate dances for the twice yearly semester-end dance recital/concert.
• Fill out student evaluations one to two times yearly.
• Record student attendance for each class.
• Attend all staff meetings and trainings, including those that may not fall within regular teaching hours.
• Communicate with Director regarding any concerns, children’s behavioral issues and class structure.
