Synova Group in Minnesota is seeking Direct Support Professionals to assist individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health needs, and physical disabilities in homes and communities. The role focuses on stabilizing crises, promoting independence, and building community connections through person-centered supports.

Responsibilities include daily living assistance, behavior support, documentation, and safe transportation.

Qualifications

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Have a high school diploma or GED preferred.
• Possess a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and maintain a clean driving record.
• Have access to an insured vehicle.
• Successfully pass a DHS background study.
• Have basic computer skills for documentation and communication.

This is a crisis group home which is a short‑term, highly supportive residential setting designed for children, teens, or adults who are experiencing an emotional, behavioral, or other crisis. The goal is stabilization — not long‑term placement — so the person can return home or move to a more appropriate setting designed for children, teens, or adults who are experiencing an emotional, behavioral, or other crisis. The individuals we support in this setting are often highly behavioral, may be violent at times, display verbal aggression, and may elope. It is imperative that employees following our training, policies, and care plans to support individuals with these unique needs.

What is a Youth Crisis Group Home?

This Youth Crisis Group Home is a short-term, highly supportive residential setting designed for individuals from 12 to 17 years old experiencing an emotional, behavioral, or mental health crisis. Unlike a traditional group home, the goal of this program is stabilization—not long‑term placement. Our team provides intensive support to help each individual safely return home or transition to a more appropriate long‑term setting once they have stabilized and an individualized plan is in place.

Qualifications

Applicants must:

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Have a high school diploma or GED preferred.
• Possess a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and maintain a clean driving record.
• Have access to an insured vehicle.
• Successfully pass a DHS background study.
• Have basic computer skills for documentation and communication.

Preferred Qualifications for Youth Crisis DSPs:

• Previous experience as a Direct Support Professional or in behavioral health.
• Experience working with individuals who have behavioral, developmental, or mental health diagnoses.
• Comfortable responding to crisis situations and managing physically aggressive behaviors using approved intervention techniques.

Working Environment

• Travel regularly within the community.

• Be exposed to bodily fluids, odors, dust, infectious diseases, and other workplace conditions common in human services.
