Overview Job Title: Children’s Center Director Department: Children’s Center Reports to: VP of Human Resources Employer Paid Benefits for You & Your Family!! Medical, Dental & Vision. Compensation: $60,868 - $119,328 Schedule: First Shift -40 hours Definition of Position: Responsible for directing all aspects of the Good Shepherd Health Care System’s Children Center. Prepares and submits all financial reports required in a timely manner. Leads Center staff in accomplishing Center goals. Ensures compliance with all state rules and regulations, and applicable hospital policies. Coordinates and promotes childcare, learning, and development. Supervises Center staff in providing nurturing instruction and care for children.

Responsibilities Essential Job Functions:

  • Participates in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position (reference program education curriculum).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Qualifications: Education: Required: Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Child Development, Special Education, or a related field Preferred: Master’s Degree in Elementary Education, Child Development, Special Education, or a related field Licenses/ certifications/ registrations Required:
  • Register with the Oregon Central Background Registry prior to employment and have a minimum of a conditional CBR number, First Aid & CPR Certification.
  • Have at least the qualifications in 1 or 2 1. At least Step 9 in the Oregon Registry OR 2. Have verifiable knowledge of management and supervision of adults, evidenced by a combination of professional references, education, experience or training as follows: (a) 7 credit hours in business administration or management at a college or university, OR (b) 70 training hours in program management with an emphasis on the following subjects: financial management and budgeting; policy development; staff management, evaluation and training; record keeping, OR (c) 600 hours of documented experience where there was an opportunity to participate in the following activities: financial management and budgeting; policy development; record keeping; staff management, evaluation and training AND Have verifiable knowledge of child development for the primary ages served in the center, evidenced by a combination of professional references, education, experience or training as follows: (a) 7 quarter credit hours at a college or university in two of the following Core Knowledge Categories (CKC): Human Growth and Development (HGD), Learning Environments and Curriculum (LEC), Understanding and Guiding Behavior (UGB), Special Needs (SN) or Observation and Assessment (OA), OR (b) 70 community-based training clock hours in two of the following: Core Knowledge Categories (CKC): Human Growth and Development (HGD), Learning Environments and Curriculum (LEC), Understanding and Guiding Behavior (UGB), Special Needs (SN), Observation and Assessment (OA), relevant to ages of the children served in the center, OR (c) 600 additional hours of qualifying teaching experience with children the same age as those in the center Experience: Required: Must meet Oregon State qualifications for Director, namely: Be at least 21 years of age and have at least one year of training and/or experience in management and supervision Preferred: NA Additional Director Requirements (per OAR 414-300-0080):
  • Management/supervision experience must be verifiable through documentation such as professional references, education, training records, or employment history reflecting supervision of adult staff (e.g., aides, paraprofessionals, or direct reports) — supervision of children alone does not satisfy this requirement.
  • If the management/supervision component cannot be independently documented, an OCC-approved plan may be submitted showing how the missing component will be addressed and how the program will operate until it is obtained.
  • Must be on-site at least one-third of the Center’s weekly operating hours (or one-half if the Center is certified for more than 100 children), including time spent directly observing staff and children.
  • Must complete OCC-approved health and safety training, and OCC-approved safe sleep training if the Center serves infants.
  • Within 90 days of hire: current pediatric CPR and First Aid certification, and Foundations for Learning (CCLD-approved Child Development Training). Within 30 days of hire: Oregon Food Handler’s certification, if preparing or serving food.
  • Must complete 10 hours of Program Management training logged with Oregon Registry Online (ORO), and maintain 15 clock hours of professional development annually thereafter.
  • Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Occasional walking, standing, bending, or lifting light office items (up to 25 pounds). Visual acuity to view computer screens and read detailed financial documents. Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically. May be required to move throughout the healthcare facility, including administrative and clinical areas.
