Qualifications

Job description

Children's Behavioral Health Technician - Cottonwood Residential - Evening Shift
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children and adolescents?
Location: Cape Girardeau, MO

Part Time: Non-Exempt

Evening Shift: 2:45pm-10:45pm Every Sat, Sunday, and Monday

Base Pay Rate: $17.38/hour - eligible for +$0.50 shift differential when working evening shifts.

About the Program
Cottonwood is a 16-bed Residential Treatment Facility for children and adolescents aged 7-18 years, offering intensive residential treatment as an alternative to hospitalization.

Summary
As a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), you will oversee clients' safety and mental well-being, assist with skill-building, participate in groups and social activities, and intervene in crises. You will also take children to social and recreational activities such as bowling, swimming, and sports.
Essential Functions
  • Provide care that promotes safety, comfort, and a therapeutic environment.
  • Educate clients on daily living activities and self-care management.
  • Teach functional living skills based on individual treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to coordinate client care.
  • Complete and chart client observations.
  • Conduct personal belongings, room, and grounds checks.
  • Ensure protective oversight and monitor clients' conditions.
  • Transport clients to appointments as needed.
  • Intervene in behavioral health crises, including seclusion and restraint interventions.
  • Document according to clinical policies and procedures.
  • Maintain certification in Pro-ACT and CPR/First Aid.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma / GED / HSE Required.
    • Preference for applicants with previous mental health, healthcare, or youth work experience.
  • Must hold or obtain by start date, MO Class E Driver's License (Class D for IL Residents), and proof of continuous auto insurance. Must also meet CCC's Motor Vehicle Record standards policy and have reliable transportation.
Additional Requirements:
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, ability to obtain a Class E license, and proof of continuous auto insurance.
  • Must be able to pass CPR/FA training and ProACT training.
