Job summary

Jenks Public Schools Trojan Adventure Club in Jenks, Oklahoma, is seeking a Childhood Instructor to support after-school programs. The role reports to the Site Coordinator and involves classroom-style activity support, lesson preparation, and maintaining licensing standards.

The position is a nine-month classified hourly contract with an immediate starting date. Candidates must meet state licensing requirements and have relevant education or credentials such as CDA or a degree with child

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Hold a Child Development Associate (CDA).
  • Hold Certificate of Mastery.
  • Completed thirty (30) college hours which includes fifteen (15) hours of child development coursework.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree which includes six (6) hours of child development coursework.
  • Experience in daycare/school-age care.
  • Must meet all state licensing requirements.
  • Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with everyday operations of the program, including setting up before students come and cleaning up after students leave.
  • Work with students in a manner consistent with each child’s growth and development.
  • Assist in preparing lesson plans for children in accordance with developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Implement lesson plans in a developmentally appropriate environment.
  • Attend all required meetings and staff development requirements.
  • Assist in evaluation of the program.
  • Adhere to student behavior and discipline as per district handbook.
  • Attend workshops and conferences per licensing standards.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Position: Childhood Instructor

Reports to: Site Coordinator - Jenks Trojan Adventure Club

Supervises: None

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Must possess one of the following requirements:
    • Hold Child Development Associate (CDA)
    • Hold Certificate of Mastery
    • Completed thirty (30) college hours which includes fifteen (15) hours of child development coursework.
    • Hold a Bachelor’s degree which includes six (6) hours of child development coursework.
  • Experience in daycare/school-age care.
  • Must meet all state licensing requirements.
  • Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Position Goal: Assist in providing innovative teaching and care in a learning environment that offers and encourages choice and developmentally appropriate self-direction.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with everyday operations of the program, including setting up before students come and cleaning up after students leave.
  • Work with students in a manner consistent with each child’s growth and development. Be aware of each child’s needs.
  • Assist in preparing lesson plans for children in accordance with developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Implement lesson plans in a developmentally appropriate environment. Structure work and play center to meet the needs of the children and licensing requirements.
  • Attend all required meeting and meet all staff development requirements.
  • Assist in evaluation of the program.
  • Adhere to student behavior and discipline as per the Jenks Elementary, Intermediate, and Middle School Handbook. Guide and administer discipline in a positive, respectful manner, which promotes self-control, self-direction, and self esteem for each individual child.
  • Attend workshops and conferences in accordance with licensing standards and requirements per licensed year.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Employment Terms: Nine (9) month classified hourly contract

FLSA Qualification: Non-Exempt

Physical Demands:

Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information.

Salary: $16.50 Per Hour
