Job summary

YMCA of Kingston and Ulster is seeking a Site Supervisor for Childcare at a Kingston, NY location. The role oversees the afterschool program in partnership with partner schools, ensuring activities, staffing, and safety standards are met.

The position requires coordinating with school administrations, facilitating planned activities, and maintaining program quality. Part-time with morning and afternoon shifts, you will lead staff and promote a collaborative team environment within the YMCA

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Associates degree or 18 credits in childhood development or related field and one year experience OR two years of relevant experience with children under 13 in an educational setting and high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess oral, auditory and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with both children and adults.
• Positive role model with strong leadership, conflict resolution and diplomacy skills.
• Capable of directing daily administrative, program-related, and supervisory responsibilities of the Afterschool Program.

Responsibilities

• Administer the day-to-day operation of the afterschool program, ensuring that all the program components are implemented as planned.
• Complete all OCFS required trainings
• Implement activities per plan assuring all children are engaged with activities.
• Assist counselors as needed
• Prepare and monitor staff schedule at all times, modifying it as necessary to maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios.
• Coordinate with the school's administration, teachers, and other community as needed.
• Evaluate program quality and fidelity, implementing necessary steps to remedy weaknesses according to Y-USA measurement and evaluation guidelines.
• Promote a team concept through a positive approach to supervision, communication, and interactions with others. Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor and appropriate staff at all levels of the YMCA.

Job Overview: Childcare Site Supervisor is a vital role in the YMCA Before and After School Care team. The Childcare Site Supervisor will be dedicated to a specific program site location(s) (works with an office in the school) and is responsible for the oversight of the afterschool program in partnership with the collaborating school.
