The Childcare Lead Toddler Teacher supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. The Childcare Lead Toddler Teacher creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes all children and families while promoting and maintaining a strong educational program in accordance with the YMCA and licensing and quality requirements.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and implement weekly lesson plans and program goals with director support
  • Encourage individual development of children through daily interactions
  • Maintain program records and documentation
  • Communicate positively with guardians and establish relationships
  • Supervise children to ensure safety and engagement
  • Provide a safe, clean, and risk-free environment
  • Engage children in activities to promote development
  • Keep maintenance and incident records
  • Greet parents and children daily, addressing concerns appropriately
  • Follow all program policies, district expectations, and DHS procedures
  • Use age-appropriate positive guidance techniques
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 30 credit hours in early childhood, elementary, or related human services field
  • 15 college credit hours and one-year experience related to child care
  • Current CDA certification
  • Maintain an up-to-date DHS file
  • Proficiency with technology for program needs
  • Obtain and maintain all required certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire

Work Conditions and Physical Demands

Employees must frequently stand, sit, walk, communicate, and hear. Occasionally use hands and arms, climb, or stoop. May lift up to 25 pounds regularly. Vision requirements include close and distance vision. Exposure to bacteria and viruses is possible.
