Job summary

CHANDLER UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a CHILDCARE GROUP LEADER (KIDS EXPRESS) to supervise students before and after school and support a structured learning environment. You will implement age-appropriate activities, monitor student behavior, and communicate progress to parents while upholding confidentiality.

Responsibilities include lesson planning, classroom displays, and assisting students with diverse needs.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children.
• Minimum 6 months of experience required.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment, including a computer and related software.
• Satisfactory criminal background check.
• Negative TB test required upon hire.
• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent desired.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children in the before and after school program, including play periods, meals, field trips, and safety drills.
• Prepare lesson plans and instruct children with an age-appropriate curriculum.
• Create bulletin boards, signs, borders, and classroom displays.
• Assist students with physical, emotional, and educational needs.
• Provide guidance on behavior and social skills; communicate progress to parents.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information.
• Attend staff trainings and meetings; perform other duties as assigned.
• Establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.

Core Job Functions

• Supervise children in the before and after school program, but not limited to play periods, meal time, field trips, bathroom, assemblies, and emergency drills
• Prepare lesson plans and instruct children with an age-appropriate curriculum
• Develop and create bulletin boards, signs, borders, and classroom displays
• Assist students with various physical, emotional, and educational needs
• Provide guidance and direction to students regarding appropriate behavior and social skills.
• Alert the supervisor to any problem or special information about a student
• Communicate with parents on the student's progress, behaviors, issues, and outcomes
• Maintain the confidentiality of protected student and staff member information even after no longer employed
• Be flexible and perform other duties relating to the general job function as assigned by the supervisor
• Establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.
• Keep educational materials, equipment, and the general room environment neat, safe, and clean.
• Attend all staff training sessions, meetings, and programs.
• Accept responsibility for students' well-being and safety while they are in the employee's care
• Be alert to and report the possibility of any substance use, child abuse, or dangerous situation based upon daily observation
• Operating and caring for the school district's equipment properly
• Follow district policies as outlined
• Perform all duties safely and prudently as directed by supervisors
• Participate in a minimum of 18 training hours per year.
• Maintain current CPR/First Aid Certification as required by the program
