Kids After Hours has been providing school-aged children with quality childcare and summer camp programs since 1989. Our staff’s energy and creativity make Kids After Hours a truly special and unique place for kids to come and have fun. Energetic, enthusiastic staff + variety of activities + safe, secure surroundings = fun at KAH.

Just like the formula shows, the fun starts with a staff member that is involved and excited about what they are doing. We are proud that many of our former campers and before-and-after school kids eventually return as staff members.

We provide a balance of child-initiated and staff-directed activities reflecting our kids’ interests and backgrounds. We offer organized activities such as literacy, cultural arts, S.T.E.M., arts and crafts, sports, monthly clubs, and cooking, as well as free play options. By being active listeners, we create a safe and accepting environment for our children, encouraging interactions that promote responsibility and respect for others. Our philosophy is that we help everyone, care always, and have fun doing it!

Job Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and responsible staff member with childcare experience who qualifies as a childcare Director. Our mission depends on staff who are involved and excited about their daily work at Kids After Hours. Applicants should be patient, fun-loving, and positive role models and mentors to our kids. Staff members get to know children’s individual interests and incorporate these into our program. They also develop clubs and activities based on the children’s preferences and interests.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Assist with set-up and clean-up of the room, including activities.
• Ensure all children are in the right place and accounted for.
• Communicate with parents and the school/community.
• Organize, label, and replace equipment, games, and toys.
• Provide supervision for kids, playing and engaging with them while ensuring safety.
• Organize and lead small and large group activities, such as crafts, nature, songs, and games.
• Have positive interactions with children, including teaching games or skills like knitting or playing the guitar.
• KAH Greeters assist parents with drop-off and pick-up, provide important information, and answer questions. They also communicate with parents about children’s experiences and report concerns to Leadership.
• Follow all safety guidelines related to childcare and program areas, responsible for children's safety and whereabouts at all times, and understand emergency procedures.
• Counselors report to the site Director.

Qualifications and Skills

• 3-6 years of experience working with children.
• Relevant education degree or experience in a licensed childcare program.
• Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement activities.
• Ability to work as part of a team and accomplish tasks with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
