Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids in Grand Rapids, MI, is seeking a Childcare Director to lead our early childhood program across multiple centers. You will oversee daily operations, guide up to 30 teachers, ensure high-quality learning environments, and partner with families and community organizations to strengthen the program’s impact.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, at least 5 years in licensed childcare leadership, and a proven

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development and licensing requirements.
• 2 semester hours in child care administration.
• Strong knowledge of state regulations and licensing requirements for childcare centers.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in licensed child care management and development; past supervision preferred.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to interact with people of diverse backgrounds and ages.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operation of the center to ensure a safe, nurturing, and educational environment.
• Maintain and improve quality standards for educational and care practices.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and licensing requirements; liaise with licensing consultants.
• Lead a team of up to 30 teachers; coach and develop staff and manage staffing needs.
• Build partnerships with families and community organizations to support children’s development.
• Monitor monthly budgets and enrollment; prepare reports for funders; ensure grant compliance.
