Job summary

Child Development Schools is seeking a Bus Driver in Wilmington, NC to provide safe, reliable transportation for students and to support classrooms as needed. You will engage with children, document observations, and communicate with families to foster a nurturing learning environment.

A high school diploma or GED is required, along with a clean driving record and the ability to pass a background check. We value dedication to safety and positive family relationships.

Childcare Center Bus Driver - Wilmington, North Carolina

Your role

As a Bus Driver at Child Development Schools, you will support our center by providing safe, reliable transportation for our students to and from school and/or activities. You may also be supporting classrooms, working alongside your Lead Teacher, you will support young learners through meaningful experiences that encourage curiosity, confidence, kindness, and growth. From hands‑on activities and storytelling to everyday learning moments, you will help shape a warm and welcoming environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to explore the world around them.

You will serve as a trusted partner to families, a positive role model for children, and an important part of our collaborative teaching team dedicated to making early childhood education engaging, nurturing, safe, and fun.

What your day looks like:

• Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom that meets licensing and ratio requirements
• Provide on time, safe and reliable transportation for our Before and After School programs
• Engage directly with children during activities, meals, transitions, and outdoor time
• Observe children and share developmental notes with the Lead Teacher
• Build relationships with families through warm, consistent daily communication

Pay and benefits

Pay: 14-16 per hour, based on experience and education.

Requirements

• At least 21 years old
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to pass a background check
• Genuine care for children and a commitment to their safety and well-being
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with families
• Physical ability to meet the demands of working with young children
• Clean driving record

A degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education and prior experience in a licensed childcare center are a plus, but not required. We hire characters and train for skill.
