Under the supervision of the Lead Teacher and Director, the Associate Teacher provides direction for the classroom and implements the program curriculum while providing a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. Our program is licensed by the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services and holds an honorable Licensed Plus accreditation for quality.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests while exemplifying the Y’s commitment to the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility.
  • Responds to all member and community inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
  • Assists with designing and implementing daily lesson/activity plans.
  • Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
  • Conducts parent conferences with the Lead Teacher and maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
  • Engages parents as volunteers.
  • Maintains program site and equipment.
  • Maintains required program records.
  • Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training (18 hours per year).

Minimum Qualifications

Meets 80% to 100% of the following qualifications:

  • Ability to perform duties with professionalism, enthusiasm, kindness, empathy, care, honesty, and respect.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Meets educational and experience qualifications established by childcare licensing.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
  • Health form completed within the 30 days (about 4 and a half weeks) of hire date; renewed every 3 years.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.

Preferred Level Qualifications

  • Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
  • 3 or more years of experience working in a licensed childcare facility.
