The CELC Assistant Teacher supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit organization committed to strengthening community through Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. What You’ll Do

• Supervise children and ensure their safety
• Maintain a clean, safe, and risk-free environment
• Engage children in developmental activities
• Keep maintenance records and reports
• Greet parents and children daily, address concerns
• Use positive guidance strategies
• Follow DHS procedures and support compliance
• Provide for children's needs
• Adhere to YMCA policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 2,500 hours childcare experience preferred
• 30 college credit hours in early childhood or related fields
• 15 college credits and one year of related experience
• Current CDA certificate
• Maintain DHS file and certifications within 90 days of hire

Work Conditions and Physical Demands

Employees must frequently stand, sit, walk, communicate, and hear. Occasionally, they must handle, reach, climb, or stoop. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Exposure to bacteria and viruses is possible. Reasonable accommodations are available.
