Job summary

MercyOne Dubuque is seeking a dedicated Childcare Assistant to support the Teacher in caring for children aged 6 weeks through 9 years. The role operates on a full-time day schedule with shifts around 10:00am–6:30pm or 11:00am–7:30pm, within a center open weekdays.

This position emphasizes safety, developmentally appropriate activities, and strong communication with families, while aligning with MercyOne’s mission and core values. A competitive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must earn State Mandatory hours of continuing education in Early Childhood Education per year.
• Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
• One to two years previous work experience with children and/or schooling in Early Childhood Education is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Teacher in caring for children aged 6 weeks to 9 years.
• Adhere to MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center's Model of Caring and Trinity Health's Code of Conduct.
• Ensure children’s safety and well-being, supervising activities and environments.
• Create an engaging, warm, and respectful environment for all children.
• Meet physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of the children.
