Job summary

Armada Area Schools is seeking a Non-Instructional Childcare Assistant (Aide) to support early elementary students before and after school during the 2026-2027 term. The role runs weekdays from 7:00 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M.

to 5:00 P.M. with a part-time schedule and a pay rate of $15.00 per hour. Responsibilities include maintaining a safe, nurturing environment, communicating with families and staff, and supporting lead caregivers with activities and record-keeping.

Qualifications

  • Ability to supervise or assist in the supervision of early elementary children in all school situations in a firm yet positive and fair manner.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and maintaining a clean, safe, and inviting environment.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining a clear communication with the parents, community, and other staff members.
  • Protect the privacy of the families enrolled by observing the rules of confidentiality.
  • Maintain a pleasant atmosphere for all children by using positive and consistent guidance techniques.
  • Interact with children and encourage their involvement in activities.
  • Implement consistent, positive behavior management strategies to support children's social and emotional development.
  • Assist the lead caregiver in planning activities for the group and offer suggestions.
  • Help the lead caregiver in record keeping by passing on observations regarding the children's health, behavior, and development.
  • Maintain open communication with the parents, so as to make each parent feel at ease and informed.
  • Assist in preparing materials needed in the program.
  • Attend monthly meetings and trainings, as required and needed.
  • Abide by all Licensing Rules as stated by the State of Michigan Department of Human Services Office of Children and Adult Licensing effective December 7, 2006.

REPORTS TO: Early Childhood Programs Supervisor

SALARY: $15.00/hr.

JOB GOAL: To assist the Lead Caregiver in providing a safe, warm, and nurturing environment for ALL children to grow physically, emotionally, socially, and intellectually.
