Day Shift
General Summary
Develops, coordinates and presents childbirth education programs for the community.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Provides accurate information about the physiology, psychology, and sociology of pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and early parenthood.
- Provides skills to assist women and their support persons to cope with pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and early parenthood.
- Acts as a facilitator who helps couples better understand and value their experience as they transition into parenthood.
- Provides an avenue for communication between the pregnant women and other members of the health care team.
- Serves as an advocate for pregnant women, their partners and infants.
- Communicates accurate information about pregnancy, childbirth, childcare, and early parenthood in a clear, concise, understandable manner
- Serves as a resource to the community by developing and planning programs in response to identified needs.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
- Diploma Program in Nursing Required or
- Associates Degree Required
Work Experience:
- 1 year In OB specialty (labor and delivery, maternity, NICU). Required
- Experience as an educator in a health related field/organization. Preferred
Licenses:
- Licensed Registered Nurse Upon Hire Preferred and
- Heartsaver CPR/AED Upon Hire Preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of adult and childhood educational principles.
- Strong communications skills.
