The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS), is seeking candidates for the position of Child Welfare Services Case Manager 1. This position is located in Albany, Dougherty County, Georgia.

Shift differential supplemental pay is offered for 2nd, 3rd, and weekend shifts.

Pay Grade: I

Under supervision, learns to provide investigative and comprehensive case management for a caseload involving child abuse or neglect.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to reports of child maltreatment and conduct assessments to ensure safety.
  • Develop and implement safety plans to address safety concerns.
  • Locate children and families when contact is not established.
  • Implement Solution Based Casework (SBC).
  • Work with children and parents to develop Family Functioning Agreements, Action Plans, and Family Plans.
  • Create genograms to understand family support networks.
  • Collaborate with community partners to support children and families.
  • Ensure visits with children and families are sufficient to promote safety and well-being.
  • Identify and address the physical, educational, and mental health needs of children and families.
  • Establish permanency goals for children.
  • Ensure stable foster placements aligned with permanency goals.
  • Strive for timely permanency for children, complying with relevant laws.
  • Place siblings together in foster care unless separation is necessary.
  • Maintain connections to community, faith, family, school, and friends.
  • Support positive relationships between children and their biological parents/caretakers.
  • Document case activities timely and accurately.
  • Celebrate positive outcomes with children and families.
  • Use personal vehicle for work-related duties, including transporting children.
  • Participate in after-hours on-call duties.
  • Engage in ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, valid driver's license, and acceptable driving record.

  • Applicants must pass agency testing protocols.
  • Employees may be required to telework and be called into the office as needed.
